Bramblewood Kennels is owned and operated by Ernie and Andrea Hasse, on a small farm in central Michigan.
Ernie started hunting and training dogs as a young boy and, dogs have been his primary passion every since. As reflected in some of the photos, he literally grew up hunting and working with cockers. Over the past 40 plus years, he has owned and trained a wide variety of gun dog breeds. For several years, he also owned and trained several police tracking dogs of different breeds.
For the past 20 years, Bramblewood has been breeding and training "field bred" English Cockers, strictly the "hunting" side of the breed. Initially, importing the best British bloodlines available from Wales, England and Scotland, the original home land of most "working" spaniels of today.
Ernie and Andrea successfully compete in "field trials" throughout the country. Ernie has won the "High Point Dog of the Year" award, with different dogs. In addition, both have earned field championships on several dogs, numerous gun dog awards and a National Championship. Which Ernie won with NFC/FC Flathome Accord, "Rocky". They were also selected by Purina for their National Ad Campaign, "Chosen By Champions".
Both Ernie and Andrea are experienced AKC Field Trial judges. In 2003, Ernie was selected and honored to judge the National Cocker Championship and was recently honored to be asked again. In addition to trials, Andrea is an experienced AKC Hunt Test Judge and competitor.
Andrea oversees the whelping of each litter and pampers and cares for all the newborns from day one until they leave for new homes, socializing and conditioning them to noises, first retrieves, conducting puppy testing, etc. She gets to know each puppy’s personality in detail. By the time they leave we have spent virtually hours with each puppy. This has been a great help to many new owners asking for advice when trying to choose a puppy to meet their specific needs.
